Bob Stanhope is a singer,
songwriter, and sometimes humorist who has performed for over
four decades in clubs and coffeehouses mainly around the
northeast. Recently he's been featured at the Wintonbury
Coffeehouse in Bloomfield, CT, the City Center Danbury Summer
Concert Series, First Night Danbury, CT, the Putnam County 4-H
Fair in NY, and The One Heart Festival in Danbury, CT. While his
more serious material might be compared to Billy Joel, Harry
Chapin, or Paul Stookey of Peter, Paul, and Mary, his comic /
satirical side could be likened to Weird Al Yankovick or Tom
Lehrer. This humorous side was nurtured during his many years
during the 80s and 90s as the morning personality on a variety
of suburban radio stations.
Bob grew up in Irvington, NY and
began performing his progressive folk / humor act years ago
while still in college in Pennsylvania. Over the years he's
worked as a math teacher (as he does currently), in the
government Public relations, and in broadcasting. While the day
job has changed his love of performing as a
singer-songwriter-guitarist hasn't.
He is an twelve time winner in the
Billboard Magazine Songwriter Contest, a performing member of
the Hudson Valley Folk Guild, and also an Artistic Member of
Mosaic Ministries (a group that promotes musical missionaries_.
He has been a guest on live national TV and has even recorded
with Les Paul! As if this wasn't enough, Bob has also had
theater experience, with lead roles in "1776", "Born Yesterday",
"Sugar", and "Mr. Roberts". Bob now lives in Putnam Lake, NY
with his wife, Sue.
Their
daughter Renee and her husband, Adam, live and work in Brooklyn.
Bob continues to entertain
audiences from Jersey to Massachusetts with his song writing and
outstanding voice. Checkout "Appearances" on the left for a list
